Sunnah 136: Words of dhikr that outweigh others

October 25, 2010

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

The Prophet (pbuh) said to his wife, who had been reciting dhikr from dawn to noon, “I recited four words 3 times after I left you and if these were to be weighed against what you have recited this morning, these would outweigh them:

سبحان الله وبحمده عدد خلقه ورضا نفسه وزنة عرشه ومداد كلماته

SubhanAllah wa bihamdihi ‘adada khalqihi wa ridha nafisihi wa zinata ‘arshihi wa midaad kalimaatih

Glory be to Allah and praise is due to Him, to the extent of the number of His creation, and to the extent of His pleasure, and to the extent of the weight of His Throne, and to the extent of the ink used in recording words for His praise” [Abu Dawud]
