Sunnah 41: Do not exclude someone from conversation

May 30, 2010

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

The Prophet (pbuh) said: “Two should never converse privately excluding a third until others join them. The reason being is that it would dismay him.” [Agreed Upon]

We should never ignore people or exclude them from our conversations. It was reported that Amr Ibn Al-Aas (ra) said: “The Prophet (pbuh) would give his full attention to even the worst people in order to create warmth between people, and he used to give me so much attention and talk to me until I thought I was the best of the people.” (Tirmidhi)

SubhanAllah at the manners and kindness of the Prophet (pbuh). No wonder many of the companions (ra), who before islam were not of good character, became some of the best people after Islam!

So let us make sure we do not exclude people from our conversations, even if we are talking about something private, we can change the topic and continue what we talking about at a later time.

    as salamu ‘alaykum

This is such a good reminder for me and inshaAllah I will be sharing it. Subhan’Allah to be able to embody just a bit of his character would be a blessing from Allah Most High.

    Thank you!
